#CookingwithCaitlin | Roasted Chick Peas

This is by no means a meal, but it’s a really good snack! Being on my own makes it harder to cook big meals, so I usually prepare simple and quick ones, or I snack a lot. It’s tough to find snacks that are healthy and taste good AND satisfy your craving.

I was seeing a lot of photos on Pinterest and Instagram of roasted chick peas and I really really wanted to give them a try. I also have a severe nut and peanut allergy so I’m always looking for protein alternatives. They looked simple enough to make, and they are a clean-eat snack!

The seasonings you can come up with are absolutely endless!!! I kept it really healthy this time, but I’ll probably experience with different ones next time.

How To Make:

Buy a bag of chick peas and let them soak / boil them. (You can use canned chick peas to speed the process, but remember there are preservatives and salt added – so keep that in mind if you are a clean-eater).

Wash and rinse!

In a bowl add olive oil and mix the peas until they are covered in a nice layer of the oil without being overly saturated.

Take a cooking sheet, and cover it with parchment paper or tinfoil and spread peas out.

Sprinkle cayenne pepper (you can add a little bit of sea salt as well) over the peas – as much or as little as you want.

Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for about 40mins (they will be split and blistered when they are ready)
